Stranger Danger

Hey family! With Halloween and other fall festivities just around the corner I thought what better time than now to talk to our kids about stranger danger and safety in numbers! My kids LOVE to walk home from school and church with their friends! They think its so cool! My son also thinks he's old enough to go trick or treating with his friends and no adult! Letting my kids do those things gives me total heartburn! until now.. I have found some awesome tips and lessons on how to teach our kids about strangers without scaring them!  We now are going to have a family night based on those lessons! Will  I still worry? ALWAYS! But I'm hoping that after talking to and teaching them I'll less worry and more confidence! Trick or Treating alone is still a no but.. the others are ok by me!  Hope you guys find this just as useful as I did!  Stay Safe Friends

The Importance Of Make Believe

Hey all! I'm going to do things a little different today, hope you enjoy! Recently I've been taking some child development classes, as a mom I find these classes to be helpful not only in my profession but home as well. My hope today is to give you a little insight on a topic that I didn't think was very important but turns out.. it is!

I've always just thought that when kids play make believe ( House, School, Super Hero's) they were just being silly. While that might be true they are actually learning so much more that we realize! Research shows that when children pretend play they are not only learning how to be creative which is very important! But they are learning social skills, problem solving, empathy and so much more! Very often when children play make believe they pretend to have qualities that they wish they had such as independent, brave, strong, etc..  By observing and engaging in their play we have the opportunities to pick those things out and help encourage our little one to be as smart, strong, independent and brave as they can be! We can teach them that the sky is the limit and they can do whatever they want to do in life! Albert Einstein said " Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create!" I LOVE that! I understand that not everyone has a great playroom to play in so I found some cheap easy items to have at home so your kids can enjoy make believe play at school and home inside and out! I hope you find something useful!

Summer School

Hey all! So.. I know school has only been out for a week but I have already been racking my brain trying to come up with ways to keep my kids progressing in school work as well as let them enjoy their summer! I know from experience that the summer time can be detrimental for education, especially for kids going from kinder to first grade!  I don't know about any of your families but in mine homework is quite the chore during the school year! So how I was going to require reading, writing and math daily this summer was beyond me. However, I'm happy to say I think that I have found some fun tips and tricks on how to accomplish this task! Hopefully some of you can and will use some of these ideas as well!  If not.. I'm proud to say that our center will fulfill some of these tips for them! Let me know what works for your little's and if I can do anything to help!

Hey CC Family!! As most of you know our Pre-k and Kindergarten graduations are coming up next week and if your kids are anything like mine it's a pretty dang big deal!! So.. Naturally they expect gifts on their bi day! now, my sweet in laws have the cutest tradition where they each pick a cute book and write a personalized msg for the little graduate. I personally LOVE that because its something they can keep forever! Last year I gave my little graduate some flowers and a candy ley for her graduation ceremony, it was SUPER cute but I got to thinking, with the money I spent to make that I could have gotten her something meaningful that she could keep and look back on later. ( I know how boring) I started my search and came up with some pretty dang cute ideas for not only my little graduate but also things I may start for the other kids in my life as well! Hope you enjoy these! See ya at graduation!!
