Learning With Legos

Hey CC Family! Before we get started I want to send a shout out to Miss Becky for the tip/request on todays topic! FYI... I LOVE requests!! If you have something on your mind that you'd like to learn about, teach, or laugh at. Let me know! Leave me a comment on my blog, Facebook, at the front desk of your center or shoot me an email! ( ashleyk@childrensclassic.net) You're the reason I'm doing what I do so it would be GREAT if I can talk about things you'd like to talk about, instead of something I want to talk about! Any whoo, now that we've got that out of the way lets get started! Becky sent me a picture of how to teach math with Legos. My first thought.. where the heck was this idea when I was failing math class!?! My next thought.. My kids would absolutely love to learn with a hands on activity like that! Especially when the subject is boring old math. So after a little research I found teaching with Legos goes WAY beyond math! You can teach spelling, reading, sorting, science and more! So for any looking for more entertaining ways to teach your mini how to do their homework, here's a couple tips for ya! Until next time!!

See Ya Later Alligator!

Hey Ya'll! Here we are again, coming to the close of another 3 day weekend! I like a 3 day weekend as much as the next person but... Come drop off I'd rather go to the dentist than have to go through that! That's saying a lot to because I ( for the lack of a better word) HATE going to the dentist! No offense to any dentists or dental spouses out there! I don't know what it is about a 3 day weekend that throws our little's through  such a loop?! I mean, its just 1 extra day for Pete's sake!! Maybe it just me being a sucker for my kids, or maybe someone else has the same problem. Either way here is a cute poem that may help making tomorrows good bye a little easier! Also some do's and don'ts for drop off. Have a great night and see you and your minis bright and early!

Stop. Drop. Roll.

did you know On average, there are 29 home candle fires reported per day?! It was brought to my attention last night, that my family doesn't have a " fire escape plan". At first I thought it was a totally random way for my 6 year old to play the " I'm scared card" because it was past bedtime and I was totally into my show. Apparently the movie she had been watching earlier had a scene where the dad bumped the candles and they caught the house on fire. It didn't seem to bother anybody at the time so I didn't think anything of it. As luck would have it, the scene bothered my little Abby more than I knew and what better time to tell me about it than MOMMY time?! (What's mommy time anyway?) after a quick snuggle we told her our plan that my genius hubby pulled out of left field and she was on her merry way! passed out within minutes. I, on the other hand had a harder time falling asleep afterwards because now my brain was racing a mile a minute trying to figure out what we really would do in the unlikely event of a fire? I mean who actually has a family disaster plan? Well... As of tomorrow we do! And so can you!  Here are a few tricks and tips I found on making a family disaster plan! So yes, we practice these drills at school and as far as I know they still do the same at elementary schools but the chance of survival goes WAY up when constantly talked about and practiced! Hopefully someone other than me will find use for these ideas! Stay safe! And until next time...
