The Importance Of Make Believe

Hey all! I'm going to do things a little different today, hope you enjoy! Recently I've been taking some child development classes, as a mom I find these classes to be helpful not only in my profession but home as well. My hope today is to give you a little insight on a topic that I didn't think was very important but turns out.. it is!

I've always just thought that when kids play make believe ( House, School, Super Hero's) they were just being silly. While that might be true they are actually learning so much more that we realize! Research shows that when children pretend play they are not only learning how to be creative which is very important! But they are learning social skills, problem solving, empathy and so much more! Very often when children play make believe they pretend to have qualities that they wish they had such as independent, brave, strong, etc..  By observing and engaging in their play we have the opportunities to pick those things out and help encourage our little one to be as smart, strong, independent and brave as they can be! We can teach them that the sky is the limit and they can do whatever they want to do in life! Albert Einstein said " Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create!" I LOVE that! I understand that not everyone has a great playroom to play in so I found some cheap easy items to have at home so your kids can enjoy make believe play at school and home inside and out! I hope you find something useful!
