Dr. Seuss

Screen-Shot-2013-02-28-at-10.40.54-PM.png (495×498): A big hello to my favorite readers! So.. This year March is a BIG month! But.. Before we hit St. Patrick's Day, Easter, or Spring break do's, don'ts and must's we have to honor the birth of the man that changed children's books forever! Yes, Dr. Seuss! I don't know about you guys but in my lime of work Dr. Seuss and his birthday are kind of a big deal!!! Instead of jumping straight into the party side of him, we're going to start with 5 Crazy facts most people didn't know ( including myself) about Dr. Seuss!

1.) His REAL name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, Born March 2, 1904

2.) He WAS NOT a doctor in any way shape or form! He didn't even have a doctorate until 1956 when his alma mater Dartmouth gave him an honorary one.

3.) He was married twice and never had his own kids, in fact he wasn't a fan of children. ( How ironic, he didn't like kids but made his money writing for them!)

4.) His books weren't always successful! His first book was turned down by 27 different publishers before he found one to take it!

5.) Dr. Seuss wrote green eggs and ham after making a bet with his publisher that he could write a whole book using only 50 words! ( He won)

So now that you've learned a thing or two about the legendary Dr. Seuss, Lets learn how to party in his honor!                          Love, The one and only... CC Blogger

Kids and teeth!

February is National Children's Dental Health month!:

Hey all! So my inspiration today is coming from last Friday when I had to take my son to the dentist! That was a real eye opener! I mean, yeah I know the basics.. No juice in the bottle, no falling asleep with the bottle, brush twice a day and floss, floss, floss! However there are SO many things that go on in those little mouths that I had no idea! I left that day feeling kind of bad, like I wasn't doing what I should be doing as a mom to ensure my child has proper oral hygiene and care! After having my pity party I thought, I cant possibly be the only parent out there that didn't fully understand the importance of the dentist. Maybe I am but just in case I decided to do some research! After all.. February is National Children's Dental Health Month! I learned some pretty helpful things and hopefully you do as well! Until next time...

President's Day

Hey all! So I was sitting here watching my kids play this morning and it hit me... I really have no idea why we celebrate presidents day!? I mean I'm grateful for the day off to play with the kiddos but I feel like there is a lesson to be learned here! When asked what is presidents day is this is what my kids had to say..

Morgan, age 4: Presidents day is because Sophee is sleeping over! ( UMM..?)
Abbygail, age 6: Presidents day is Martin Luther Kings birthday! ( Didn't we already have that??)
Sophee, age 7: I think it'd after Valentines day! ( Ok, that's fair! HAHA)
Hunter, age 9: We celebrate our Presidents for what they do/did for us! ( That one's ok)

Well... Looks like I was right! There is a lesson to be learned here! So here we go!

President's Day

What does President's Day celebrate?
This holiday is most commonly called President's Day, but the federal holiday is officially called Washington's Birthday. The day honors all of the previous presidents of the United States.

When is President's Day celebrated?
The third Monday in February

Who celebrates this day?
Washington's Birthday is a national federal holiday. Many states celebrate Washington's Day while other states officially call the day President's Day. The holiday is held on or around President George Washington's birthday, which is on February 22nd. President Abraham Lincoln's birthday, February 12, is also near this date and is often honored on President's day.

That's interesting info but... The kids wont wanna sit and read so lets find some activities!
Good Luck teaching your mini's about this holiday! Hopefully they enjoy it! See ya tomorrow!

Monday- Manning VS Newton

Hey CC peeps! As the whole world knows this weekend is the sporting event of the year!!! Super Bowl! In honor of that I'm going to be doing something a little different this week. Now football may not be everyone' thing, and that's totally ok! for example, my mother in law couldn't care less about football! But... She throws a SUPER fun party for it every year!! So if your throwing a party for the game, the halftime show, and the commercials. Or if your throwing a party as an excuse to throw a party, eat, and talk. I'm going to help you throw the party that will be the talk of the town! I'm more of the eat and talk person! I mean.. I like to watch the game, the halftime show is always good, and the commercials kill me every year! But for those that know me.. Eating and talking is sort of my thing!! Any who... Don't forget to tune in EVERY day this week to see what my tip of the day is!!! Until tomorrow..!
